The Clip-On Variable Fiber Optic Attenuator is a completely passive device, which works by physical attenuation of a 3mm jacketed singlemode cable.
It may also be used with smaller jacket sizes. However, attenuation performance may vary.
The clip-on attenuator can be attached at any point in a fiber cable, providing attenuation levels from 0 to >47dB at 1550nm, 0 to >21dB at 1310nm, and low back reflection.
This attenuator is good for hundreds of uses, and leaves no lasting effects on the cable.

Use this variable attenuator to simulate the loss in a fiber system or testing your system's dynamic range. A power meter and light source can be used to determine the fixed attenuation value your system requires.
The attenuator has a 0.6 dB typical insertion loss and is available in a 2 meter length and may be connectorized.
