The FRM220-4G-3S media converter has the ability to convert any signaling rate, from 155Mbps to 4.25Gbps, being an Universal Fiber Converter - ideal for any communication standard like: Fast and Giga Ethernet, STM-1, STM-4, STM-16, OC-1, OC-3, OC-12 and OC-48, FDDI or Fibre Channel 1/2/4G. FRM220-4G-3S has management features via SNMP or local console port (telnet) and offers active secondary optical path protection circuitry for optical redundancy. For local console the model must be purchased with a separate casing that offers serial console port, like the FRM220-CH01M or the FRM220-CH02M.
The FRM220-4G-3S is a 2R 4G optical regeneration device, which consists of Re-amplification and Re-shaping. The transponder card converts a data signal to the correct wavelength for transmission on a specific channel by supporting SFP optics on both line side and client side interfaces. 1+1 Automatic optical line Protection Switching is supported for the aggregate fiber ports. When the FRM220-4G-3S card is placed in the FRM220 rack with SNMP management, the management can view the converter card's status, type, version, fiber link status and alarms. The card can be configured to enable or disable the port, reset the port and perform diagnostic loop backs.
FRM220-4G-3S converter cand be used as card into the larger 20 slot FRM220-CH20or 8 slot FRM220-CH08chassis.

The FIB1-T1R-SC20BF is a fiber media converter for G.703 T1 transmission/transport and features an RJ-48c connector for connection to 100 Ohm twisted pair wiring. FIB1-T1R-SC20BF operates on single-mode single strand fiber up to 20Km (14mi) distance. The B type model must always match a complementary A type single strand converter. Versions of 40Km, 60Km or 80Km single strand converters are available on request. B type WDM single strand converter uses Tx: 1550nm and Rx: 1310nm wavelengths.
The fiber media converter is equipped with a single SC type optical connector. The media converter is also sometimes called T1 fiber modem. When the FIB1-T1R card is placed in the FRM301 rack with SNMP management, the card status, type, version, fiber link status, E1 or T1 link status and alarms can all be displayed. Configuration is also available to enable or disable the port, reset the port, do far end fault setting, and initiate local or far end loop-back tests.

Any 155Mbps rate optical SFP transceiver can be installed into the single SFP slot of the media converter, offering maximum flexibility for the optical interface. FRM220-DS3-E3 can support operation on E3 75Ohms or DS3 75Ohms dual BNC coaxial copper interface. The FRM220-DS3-E3 can extend transparently over fiber any E3/DS3 signal. Unit supports local console, and future releases will include web-based and in-band mFiber Connectivity Management. The web and In-band features will be available when unit is inserted into the FRM220 in-band managed fiber chassis. The OLPS-4RM-DD is a high performance high density Optical Line Protection System for critical fiber optic transmission circuits. The chassis can hold up to 8 independent OLPS-35 1:1 optical protection cards. The chassis occupies 4RU of rack space offering double the density of the standalone OLPS-RM-35-AD system while bringing the cost per OLPS 1:1 protection system at the best value. The management system available on the 8 slot chassis allows management of all the OLPS-35 cards with a single IP address. The 1:1 protection system has the advantage of a very low insertion loss compared with 1+1 protection systems. The OLPS-35 cards offers only 1.2dB of insertion loss, making them a favored protection choice for tight optical budget applications.
The OLPS is an automatic system that switches fiber communication from a main fiber line to an alternate backup fiber when the main line communication is disabled. This is done by constantly monitoring the optical level of the main line. When signal level gets under a set threshold, communication is diverted on the secondary path in less than 35 miliseconds. Unit has management available via console and SNMP. Management allows set-up of threshold optical level for switching and behavior for recovery: automatic reverting to main when signal is restored, manual revert or no switch. The new OLPS-4RM chassis offers 19" rack mounting brackets with only 4RU of space used, saving vital rack space when necessary. The 8 slot OLPS rack can be loaded with OLPS-35 1:1 protection cards.
The OLPS chassis provides redundant power supply system with "hot swap" feature, to provide continuous operation. It can accomodate both AC (110V) and DC (48V) power supply units, either in mixed or same type of power input.
